Two more friends will join Frieren in the upcoming anime adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The series’ official website has announced the two additional cast members who will play the roles of Fern and Stark and unveiled their character designs as they are about to hit the small screens this summer.

Based on the Japanese manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End follows the adventure of Frieren, an elven mage who belonged to the group that defeated the Demon King. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday since April 2020 and now has 10 tankōbon volumes as of March 2023, with over 8 million copies in circulation. With its success, winning the 14th Manga Taishō and the New Creator Prize of the 25th annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, many are now looking forward to seeing its anime adaptation.

Kana Ichinose will voice the character of Fern, an orphan raised by Haiter who used to go on an adventure with Frieren. She is described as a calm, caring, and grown-up wizard girl who is also a disciple of Eisen, a warrior who also went with Frieren.

Alternatively, Chiaki Kobayashi will be the voice behind Stark, a human warrior who became Eisen’s apprentice after escaping the village the demons attacked. Despite being a powerful warrior, he is often scared, clumsy, and childish. Upon Eisen’s order, he joined Frieren’s group as their vanguard.

Previously, the anime’s website announced Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End cast, led by Atsumi Tanezaki as the titular character Frieren. She will be joined by Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel, Hiroki Touchi as Heiter, and Yōji Ueda as Eisen.
