The Galaxy Cup is a Fortnite Battle Royale tournament that was recently organized by Epic Games. The tournament was held on July 29, Saturday, and came to an end on July 30 Sunday, but the first day was only for those players who were playing on Android. However, the Galaxy Cup did not end without some controversy. As it turns out, the player who won the cup in Brazil over the weekend was actually a cheater.
The player defeated his opponents without any efforts with the help of aimbot, which helped them get at least 20 eliminations in each game they played. Since the tournament is quite popular among the Fortnite community, this cheating ended up ruining the experience for thousands of players.
Fortnite cheater ended up winning the Galaxy Cup
It isn’t that complicated for a player to cheat in Fortnite; what’s actually difficult is the part where you have to get away with it. Countless players have cheated, but not a lot of them were able to avoid the ban that comes after cheating. There were even some cases where Epic Games outright sued cheaters or banned them from the game for a lifetime.
The Galaxy Cup took place over the weekend, allowing players to win the Galaxy Crossfade skin for free. Even though the skin will arrive in the Item Shop sometime later, a lot of players attended the tournament, trying their best to get their hands on the skin for free. Sadly, though, a couple of players ran into cheaters. The player who won the Galaxy Cup in Brazil achieved the top spot by cheating, as you can see from the video below:
How did Epic Games punish the cheater?
Fortunately, Epic Games punished the cheater by banning them from Fortnite and also removing them from the leaderboard. Although this was definitely the right thing to do, it is pretty unfortunate since many players lost their chance to unlock the free skin because of what the player did. The Fortnite community is shocked by this whole incident.
Luckily, cheating is not a very common thing in Fortnite since Epic Games bans cheaters instantly, sometimes even in the middle of a match. Nevertheless, a lot of players also agreed that the development team should not just stop banning player accounts, but they should also start banning hardware as well as IP addresses.
