Epic Games recently introduced various “character skins” in Fortnite that feature a large number of skin tones and body shapes. This gives players plenty of customization options, allowing them to better represent themselves in the game with how they feel comfortable.

However, some players in the Fortnite community decided to criticize some of the brand-new skins released in the summer update. The majority of the community, though, shut down the criticism by standing against it, declaring that this decision made by Fortnite allows one to accept themselves and promotes body positivity and inclusiveness.

Drama Surrounding The Fortnite "Plus-sized" Skins

Epic Games recently released the Opal skin in Fortnite amidst the Summer Escape Event in Chapter 4, Season 3. Previously, different characters such as Brutus, Kyle, and Penny have been perfect examples of bigger Fortnite skins, which were highly appreciated and loved by the entire community.

Regardless, there were some who shared cruel responses on social media with the release of Opal. In response to such harshness, most of the Fortnite players decided to rise up and shut down the critics for not realizing the importance of these initiatives taken by the game.

A Fortnite player began a Twitter thread saying, “The fact that this skin has caused so much drama in the Fortnite community is so sad.” As a reply to this thread, another player argued, “I think it’s cool they’re adding different character proportions and body types. Fortnite W,” whereas a third player spoke up, “If they didn’t like plus-sized skins, why do they like skins like Kyle or Penny?”

However, there was a player who explained that they just did not like the skin because of its design and not because of the "plus-sized" label on it. He also went on to say that the thought of people hating the skin simply for being plus-sized is "silly."

It is pretty apparent that the majority of the players are accepting and also celebrating the new skins being introduced in Fortnite by Epic Games. They're happy the game is promoting an inclusive and much more tolerant community. It would be great if we actually stood together as a community and helped the game promote such positive initiatives.
