Epic Games and Disney recently made major announcements over the weekend at this year's D23 Expo streamed live inside Fortnite. The announcement confirmed previous leaks that claim that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 will be Marvel-themed, and of course, the biggest news about the cutting-edge game to come out at D23 is that the upcoming in-game event is called Absolute Doom. Inspired by Marvel comics, the event will feature Marvel heroes, including the X-Men and Avengers, in an epic conflict against Doctor Doom.
The theme of the next Fortnite season co-incidentally perfectly times to the recent casting of MCU's Doctor Doom himself, Robert Downey Jr. However, it's still unclear if this Marvel-themed Fortnite event will influence Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom Trailer
The announcement revealed an exciting gameplay trailer that showcases Doctor Doom gathering a group to fight the Avengers. This includes Mysterio and Emma Frost. Meanwhile, on the opposing side, Captain Jonesy assembles his own superhero team, which includes Shuri as Black Panther, War Machine, Peelverine (a fusion of Peely and Wolverine), members of X-Men '97, and more superheroes. The trailer concludes with Doom unleashing his power against the heroes.
