Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Special Preview Reveals Character Visuals and Release Window

Several years after the original anime ended, Natsu and his team are back to complete an old mission in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest.

Natsu Dragneel and his team will continue their adventures in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest. The long-awaited anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima and Atsuo Ueda’s sequel manga was officially announced in September 2021 at the Hiro Mashima Fan Meeting livestream. After being in development for over two years, the anime has finally unveiled a special preview, giving a glimpse of its vibrant character visuals and the highly-anticipated release window: July 2024.

The Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest preview starts by showing the main protagonist, Natsu Dragneel, a Fairy Tail Guild mage and a member of Team Natsu. It’s followed by a glimpse of Lucy Heartfilia and Gray Fullbuster, Natsu’s allies and fellow mages. It then introduces Erza Scarlet. Though she’s also a Fairy Tail Guild and Team Natsu member, she’s an S-Class mage who used to serve the guild's 7th Guild Master during Makarov's absence in X792. Lastly, the preview features Wendy Marvell, a young Sky Dragon Slayer who will later join Fairy Tail Guild after the events of Nirvana.

In addition, the anime has also released the character visuals for Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and Wendy. Though they only show these characters’ images, they’re enough to excite fans of their unique dynamics.

What is Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest about?

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest will see Natsu and his team going on a 100-year quest after the death of Zeref and Acnologia. Here, they will try their best to complete a mission that has remained unaccomplished for over a century. This time, they need to seal the Five Dragon Gods, a group of dragons with incredible powers that rival Acnologia's and threaten to destroy the world, with the help of a new member named Touka.

One year following the demise of Zeref and Acnologia, Natsu Dragneel and his team from the Fairy Tail wizard guild embark on the 100 Years Quest, a mission that has been unaccomplished for over a century, on the northern continent of Guiltina. There the team learns that their mission is to seal the Five Dragon Gods, a group of dragons whose power rivals Acnologia's and threatens to cause worldwide destruction. Meanwhile, Fairy Tail recruits a new member named Touka, who is possessed by a witch that aims to seize the dragons' powers for her own purposes.

 

The anime is based on the manga with the same title, written and storyboarded by Hiro Mashima and illustrated by Atsuo Ueda. A sequel to Mashima’s original Fairy Tail series, it started serialization in July 2018 and released 16 volumes in Japan as of December 2023. Kodansha USA has licensed its English release in North America. J.C. Staff produced its anime adaptation, set to premiere in July 2024.
