Dragon Ball is getting ready to make a massive comeback this October with the premiere of the new Dragon Ball DAIMA anime. In the upcoming shonen series, Son Goku and his friends have been transformed into "Mini" versions of themselves through some mysterious magical power. While the shonen series has already confirmed that a North American tour will happen prior to its premiere, Goku and the other Z-Fighters have made their way to this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The anime has shared a closer look at the characters, including a few new ones, at its display at the event.
Dragon Ball DAIMA is one of franchise creator Akira Toriyama's final works. Earlier this year, Toriyama tragically passed away, and fans from all over the world mourned. We've already seen in the trailers how DAIMA is bringing back the shonen franchise's comedy and action elements, and now, fans can get a more in-depth look at Son Goku, his friends, and the new characters in the giant display of action figures that Bandai Namco put up at SDCC.
The three new Dragon Ball DAIMA characters recently revealed (from left to right in the image below) are Gomah, Masked Majin and Glorio. The production team at Toei Animation are still keeping a lot of plot and character details under wraps, but hopefully, we'll get a major update at San Diego Comic-Con. We might also get a release date for the upcoming anime.
Masako Nozawa will return to voice Son Goku once again, but fans will have to wait before the rest of the voice cast are officially announced. Aya Komaki (ONE PIECE FILM RED assistant director) and Yoshitaka Yashima (Dragon Ball Super storyboard artist, animation director et al.) will be directing Dragon Ball DAIMA for Toei Animation. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning) will be in charge of adapting Toriyama's designs for animation, and the scripts will be written and supervised by Yuuko Kakihara (Pseudo-Harem).
