Deadpool & Wolverine: Vinnie Jones Declined to Return as Juggernaut

Vinnie Jones said that it's "such a drama" to put the Juggernaut suit on mentally and physically.

Don't expect to see Vinnie Jones return as Juggernaut in this year's Deadpool & Wolverine movie. The 59-year-old British actor played the villainous role in X-Men: The Last Stand, and Deadpool & Wolverine tried to get him to reprise his role as the hulking villain, who's known for lines like, "I'm the Juggernaut, b****." However, he's not planning to reprise the role anytime soon.

During an interview with Yahoo UK, Jones said that he was approached to play the Juggernaut in Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated blockbuster, which features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the titular characters. Jones, who last played the character in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, said that he declined the Deadpool & Wolverine role because of the "mental toll" of putting on the costume.

"Funnily enough I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director and I just said it's such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically," Jones revealed. "I mean it had its mental toll as well because you're in it and you can't do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn't strike the deal for Deadpool [& Wolverine]."

Jones also shared his thoughts about X-Men: The Last Stand, which he called a "shambles", with his role being "diluted" and "not the same role [he] had signed on to do.". Jones said that the Juggenaut role changed significantly over the movie's production, saying that he "became an extra" as he asked, "‘Where is all my dialogue? Where is the storyline?'” However, that doesn't mean that he doesn't love superhero films. In fact, he's a huge fan of Deadpool.

"But Deadpool's my favorite movie of all f***ing time more or less. I really wanted to do it, but they didn't have the budget to put me in the suit," Jones said.

Who's expected to return in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Despite Jones not reprising his role in the sequel, Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to feature many cameos. Other than Reynolds and Jackman, the other confirmed cast members include Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Jennifer Garner (Elektra), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), Lewis Tan (Shatterstar) Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), and Karan Soni (Dopinder).

The first trailer also revealed that Aaron Stanford will reprise his role as the X-Men villain Pyro. Toad and Sabretooth are also expected to appear in the movie, and Josh Brolin is rumored to return as Cable. We can expect more surprise cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine.
