With Disney’s huge purchase of 20th Century Fox, the MCU fans were sure that all Marvel properties under Fox would return. This means that Deadpool, Fantastic Four, and X-Men would, at last, get the chance to fight alongside the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At that time, Disney confirmed that Deadpool would remain the same, which was enough of an implication that the Deadpool 3 movie is on the way. However, Marvel still took their time and took three years to confirm the release date for Deadpool 3. Here’s everything else we know about the movie, including its release date, trailer, cast, and more!

What Is The Deadpool 3 Release Date?

Originally, Deadpool 3 was scheduled to release on September 6, then on November 8, but Marvel has recently shifted a lot of release dates. Now, it has been decided that the movie will be released in theaters on May 3, 2023, meaning Deadpool 3 will be among the first movies in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ryan Reynolds recently spoke to SiriusXM, giving an update on Deadpool 3. He said, “We are, quite literally, up to our necks right now in prep and still writing,” he said. “I mean, the writing process on Deadpool movies doesn’t really end until they take the movie away from us. Literally, like they have to snatch the microphone out of my hand in the edit room.”

Is There a Deadpool 3 Trailer?

Although there aren’t any Deadpool 3 trailers yet, the first one is expected to arrive sometime in early 2024. Again, that is assuming that the movie’s release date does not change once again.

However, Ryan Reynolds did share a video on YouTube announcing the Deadpool 3 reveal and the announcement of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

We also recently had our first official look at Deadpool and Wolverine's new suits for the upcoming movie.

In this picture, we can see Hugh Jackman wearing a much more comic-accurate suit for Wolverine, which has fans even more excited for the upcoming Deadpool movie.

Who's in The Cast Of Deadpool 3?

Fans can definitely expect Ryan Reynolds to return as Deadpool himself in Deadpool 3. Along with Reynolds in the cast, Morena Baccarin, the actress who plays Wade Wilson’s wife, Vanessa, is confirmed to return from the first two Deadpool movies.

However, Vanessa is not the only character making a comeback in the Marvel threequel from the first two Deadpool movies since it has been confirmed that both Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams will return as Dopinder and Blind Al.

Also, according to Deadline, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead will also make a comeback to Deadpool 3 along with Stefan Kapicic as Colossus and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio. It was also recently confirmed that another beloved actor will return to Deadpool 3. This fan-favorite is Rob Delaney, who will be returning as X-Force member Peter.

But this isn’t all, for we haven’t given you the actual huge news, which is that Hugh Jackman will officially be returning as Wolverine! Shocking, right? It will be seven years since Logan came on screen once Deadpool 3 releases and many people thought that would be his final appearance.

Shockingly, Zazie Beetz, the actress who plays Domino, will not be returning, regardless of his mentioning that he was open to reappearing. Earlier that year, Zazie told ScreenRant, “I am crossing my fingers, hoping that Domino will be a part of this, and if not, that’s also all good. But it’s just such a great crew, such a great team. I just love Deadpool. I love Domino so much. If it’s not this, maybe I’ll do my own Domino origins or something like that.”

Apart from this, Daniel Richtman, a Marvel insider, recently reported that Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) will have a “big role” in Deadpool 3. If this happened, then it would make sense because this movie is most likely about traveling through the multiverse.

Another notable addition to the Deadpool 3 cast is Emma Corrin from The Crown, who was recently cast, but her role remains a mystery. The Hollywood Reporter also reported on March 28 that Matthew Macfayden, actor of Succession, has joined the cast, but his role also remains unknown.

One role that we are sure of without a single doubt is that of Elektra, who will once again be played by Jennifer Garner.

When it comes to rumored performances, Ben Affleck might reprise his previous role as Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil. Many rumors have also been going around that Channing Tatum might play the role of the X-Men member, Gambit.

What Will Be The Story Of Deadpool 3?

Reynolds teased fans that Deadpool 3 can see the character, as well as the plot, take an entirely new direction in the movie. He mentioned that the threequel is  “looking to go in a completely different direction,” further adding, “often they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.”

Since time travel was a major part of Deadpool 2, there is a high chance the third film might tilt towards this element a lot more. Furthermore, the movie might use time travel as a way to smoothly introduce the characters to MCU.

From the few images shared from the set and the character cameos from X-Men, it seems likely that Deadpool 3 might focus on the characters’ shift from 20th Century Fox to the MCU. It is also likely that Deadpool and Wolverine will fight against each other at some point in the movie.

Deadpool 3 Will Remain R-Rated

Similar to the previous two Deadpool movies, the threequel will also be R-rated. Disney has confirmed it several times and has decided to make Deadpool 3 the first-ever R-rated movie of the MCU.

Although a Deadpool movie could still be produced with a PG-13 rating, it is not shocking that the studios are going ahead with an R-rated version of Deadpool 3. The adult content is a part of the movies, and dialing it down could make Disney look bad.
