Stranger Things is nearing its finale, with the first volume set for release this month. Naturally, diehard fans are excited to see the show conclude with a bang. However, not many people were expecting a huge bombshell to drop ahead of the fifth and final season's release, which involves its lead stars, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour. Turns out, the beloved duo's relationship has taken a "strange" turn.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying complaint against David Harbour, who plays her adoptive father Jim Hopper in the hit Netflix series, a project they've been a part of since the beginning.
The claim, which was reportedly filed before Season 5 even started filming, includes "pages and pages of accusations," according to the outlet's source. "The investigation went on for months," the Daily Mail added.
The outlet also clarifies that Brown’s allegations against Harbour “did not include claims of sexual impropriety.” Still, fans aren't happy with the allegations and have taken to X to express their dismay. Check out some of the reactions below:
As it stands, all parties involved have yet to comment on the matter, so it's still best to take this report with a grain of salt. But long before the allegations rocked the entertainment world, Brown and Harbour had always appeared to be on good terms, which shouldn't surprise anyone, especially considering they've worked together for a decade.
In fact, appearing on the That Scene with Dan Patrick podcast in 2021 (via Yahoo), David explained his deep affection for the actress. He said:
Millie and I have always had sort of a special relationship because I knew her when she was so young. I worry about her and the fame and all that she has to struggle with. And I’ve just always felt this kind of deep fatherly affection for her.
But this isn't the first time the Stranger Things production faced controversy. Back in 2018, a grip alleged that two crew members were fostering a toxic work environment. Some speculated the creators, the Duffer brothers (Matt and Ross Duffer), were responsible. However, Netflix conducted an investigation into the claims and, according to CBS News, ultimately found no evidence of wrongdoing.
If there's any truth to the alleged rift between Millie and David, we're hopeful it gets sorted out eventually.
Stranger Things Season 5 will be divided into three parts, with Volume 1 consisting of the first four episodes set for release on November 26. The next three episodes will stream on December 25, culminating with the show's epic finale on December 31.
