Daisy Ridley, who's known to millions as Rey Skywalker in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, recently revealed to Women's Health that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease in September of 2023. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), describes Graves’ disease as an autoimmune disorder affecting the thyroid. But that's not stopping her from reprising her iconic role in the upcoming Rey Skywalker film, which will be set after the events of the sequel trilogy. But before we see her return to the franchise, she has opened up about her favorite Star Wars films.
Over on Canal+'s Instagram, the 32-year-old English actress was asked about which Star Wars films she'd put in her Top 5, and she put her first Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, in her #1 spot, then follows it up with what many Star Wars fans would consider as the greatest film, The Empire Strikes Back. Watch Ridley share her Top 5 Star Wars films in the video from Canal+ below:
Daisy Ridley's Top 5 Favorite Star Wars Movies:
The Force Awakens
The Empire Strikes Back
Rogue One
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones
It's certainly nice to see a film from each of the Star Wars movie trilogy made it to her list along with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Attack of the Clones. While The Force Awakens is likely what many would consider as the best film in the sequel trilogy, many fans would probably disagree with her choice to put it on her #1 spot.
What is Daisy Ridley's upcoming Rey Star Wars movie about?
The official title of the New Jedi Order project starring Daisy Ridley hasn't been announced yet. It's confirmed to be in development, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) set to direct and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) set to pen the script. However, plot details are still being kept under wraps. All we know is that it will be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, and that it will feature Rey as she attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order.
During an interview with Variety earlier this year, Ridley addressed other sequel actors appearing in the movie When asked if it will be weird to make a Star Wars film without Boyega, Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), and Adam Driver (Ben Solo/Kylo Ren), she responded:
In addition to the untitled Rey movie, Jon Favreau is set to direct and write The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. There's also a Dawn of the Jedi film from director James Mangold and writer Beau Willimon, and an untitled Star Wars film set in The New Republic era, directed and written by Dave Filoni. There's also a new Star Wars film from Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy set in an unspecified era.
