Daisy Ridley "Absolutely" Wants to Reunite With John Boyega in New Star Wars Movie

Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role as Rey in the untitled Star Wars movie, but it's still unclear if any of her sequels co-stars will return.

Earlier this week, Young Woman and the Sea premiered, and the new movie sees Daisy Ridley playing an accomplished swimmer, Gertrude Ederle. Of course, Ridley was asked about her upcoming Star Wars return during her walk at the red carpet. Last year, it was announced that she was getting a solo Star Wars film as Rey, the Jedi character she played in the Star Wars sequel trilogy that started with The Force Awakens (2015).

During an interview with THR, Ridley was asked if she'd like to reunite with her Star Wars sequel trilogy co-star, John Boyega, the Force-sensitive former Stormtrooper.

"Absolutely, of course," Ridley said when asked if she'd want Boyega to be a part of her upcoming Rey Star Wars film set in the New Jedi Order era. "It feels like we should, yeah."

What is Daisy Ridley's upcoming Rey Star Wars movie about?

The official title of the New Jedi Order project starring Daisy Ridley hasn't been announced yet. It's confirmed to be in development, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) set to direct and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) set to pen the script. However, plot details are still being kept under wraps. All we know is that it will be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, and that it will feature Rey as she attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order.

During an interview with Variety earlier this year, Ridley addressed other sequel stars appearing in the film. When asked if it will be weird to make a Star Wars movie without Boyega, Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), and Adam Driver (Ben Solo/Kylo Ren), she said:

No, because I don't know what is what or who is who [in the new movie]. So much has happened for me [since the Skywalker saga]. I feel like a grown-up now. When I first started, I was, like, 20. I was the youngest on set. It took me the first two Star Wars films to feel worthy of being there. Now I'm in my 30s. The whole thing feels quite different. I've been able to work with other filmmakers, and hopefully, I've got better as a performer.
