Before its release tomorrow, CD Projekt Red decided to reveal a launch trailer today for Phantom Liberty, the much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 expansion DLC. During the past week, Cyberpunk 2077’s epic 2.0 update was launched, which overhauled plenty of in-game mechanics, systems, and features. Now, Phantom Liberty is all ready to join this patch, and the developers have given players one final look at what they might expect in the game.
The Phantom Liberty launch trailer mainly serves as a tone piece for the story of the expansion. The trailer consists of various characters that were featured in the base game but also focuses on Solomon Reed, who is played by the popular actor Idris Elba. Reed wasn’t present in Cyberpunk 2077, making his introduction in Phantom Liberty a major highlight of the expansion.
On top of giving fans a look at all of these characters, the trailer also featured plenty of upgraded visuals and brand-new environments that players can explore. Overall, the video doesn’t really reveal a lot about the Phantom Liberty expansion, but it does a pretty good job of hyping fans up for its arrival. Phantom Liberty’s Plot & Release
Phantom Liberty takes place in a new town called Dogtown, which CD Projekt Red describes as “a ruined city-within-a-city ruled by a trigger-happy militia.” The game features Idris Elba along with Keanu Reeves, who will be reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand. Elba plays Solomon Reed, a member of the Federal Intelligence Agency who is a professional at tapping into the numerous webs of spies and netrunners.
He also knows how to extract information from people and how to break into even the most heavily guarded places. Phantom Liberty is set to have several endings, one of which is going to unlock a sixth ending for the base game. As per the Cyberpunk 2077 game director Gabe Amatangelo, the new ending "has to do with your new relationships and characters and situations.”
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to release tomorrow, i.e., September 26, 2023. Unlike its base game, the expansion will be available to download and play on current-gen hardware only, such as Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
