Ninny Spangcole and Noel Niihashi are back three years after the release of Burn the Witch anime movie. But this time, the two will be seen on the small screen in the prequel, Burn the Witch #0.8. To give fans a glimpse of their return, the anime has released several major updates, from the series’ official trailer to the first key visual and release date.

The anime’s official website has dropped the first key visual for the series, featuring Noel and Ninny in the lead, standing over Balgo Ywain Parks, who became possessed by a dragon after being bitten by his childhood friend, Shelby. The art also sees the cute little Osushi Chan, Balgo’s puppy that he found on the street.

Alternatively, the over one-minute trailer begins with Noel talking about the dragons as she walks in the busy street and makes a phone call inside the telephone booth, which works as an elevator and takes her to another place. From there, Noel rides her stick as Ninny takes her dragon, Marshal, and they fly over the sky. As the former tosses the coin, Ninny aims to ascend to Searless, as they swear to protect the dragons, while the anime’s theme song, Prove, by NIL, plays in the background.

For starters, Burn the Witch #0.8 will be based on the prologue chapter, Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover, from the manga Burn the Witch by the Bleach creator, Tite Kubo. It started as a one-shot chapter in July 2018 until a four-chapter first season followed in September 2020. After just a month of its first season’s publication, it was adapted into an anime movie by Studio Colorido. After three years, an anime adaptation by the same studio will soon be released.

What is Burn the Witch #0.8 about?

Burn the Witch #0.8 takes place in the two-dimensional world of London, the front and reverse sides. It will be a dynamic story of fantasy and action as Ninny and Noel begin their fight against fantastical dragons.

Here, 72% of deaths are related to dragons, which have been invisible to the public’s plain sight. Only people living in Reverse London can see these beings, but only a few witches and wizards can get into contact. This includes Noel and Ninny, the protection agents for Wing Bind. The two are tasked to protect and manage the dragons in London.

You can read the synopsis below:

Historically, 72% of all the deaths in London are related to dragons, fantastical beings invisible to the majority of the people. While unknown to most, some people have been standing up to these dragons. Only inhabitants of Reverse London who live in the hidden “reverse” side of London can see the dragons. Even then, only a selected few become qualified enough as witches or wizards to make direct contact with them. The protagonists of the story are the witch duo Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. They are protection agents for Wing Bind (WB), an organization for dragon conservation and management. Their mission is to protect and manage the dragons within London on behalf of the people.
