Konohamaru, following orders from Shikamaru, tricks Matsuri by pretending to have feelings for her. She lets her guard down, only to be hit by a surprise attack—twin Giant Rasengan—that seriously injures her. This betrayal is witnessed by Jura, who uses it as proof of how corrupt and deceitful humans can be, further deepening his hatred for them.
Meanwhile, Sarada and her squad battle Ryu, a powerful opponent who fights with Iron Sand. When Yodo is severely hurt, Sarada is pushed to her limits emotionally and unlocks the Mangekyō Sharingan. This incredibly powerful ability allows her to cancel out Ryu’s Iron Sand attacks, completely turning the tide of the fight and putting her at the advantage.
With her Mangekyō Sharingan now active, Sarada may be key to winning the battles ahead. Her new Mangekyō Sharingan powers could be crucial in taking on the Shinju and other looming threats. The next chapter is expected to dive even deeper into the themes of love, power, and humanity’s flaws.

The official website for Boruto and Naruto shared a sneak peek from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21 ahead of its release. This is usually done every month to get fans hyped for the next chapter. The first sneak peek show a full page featuring a flashback of Boruto and Sasuke. This flashback likely comes through Boruto Uzumaki, since Sasuke is currently unconscious after being turned into a Divine Tree. This likely means that Kashin Koji explains to Boruto how Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan was awakened.
In the flashback, Sasuke tells Boruto that the only reason he trusted him was that Sarada awakened Mangekyo Sharingan. Sasuke considers his daughter's awakening a major event, which is enough of a reason for him to trust her claims about Boruto. According to Sasuke, the Mangekyō Sharingan wields world-changing powers, and there will come a day when she will need to use it. Sasuke went on to say that when that day arrives, Sarada will intuitively understand what she must do.
The second official sneak peek revealed more recently takes us back to the present, with Sarada Uchiha unleashing the power of her Mangekyō Sharingan. According to the English translation, the text in the sneak peek reads: "Sarada just awakened her power, but she knows what it is and understands it!!"

According to leaks, Sarada unleashes the terrifying power of her Mangekyō Sharingan, and ends up ultimately defeating Ryu. But the biggest surprise is how Boruto Uzumaki teleports into the battlefield, and cuts Matsuri in pieces in order to save Konohamaru from her attacks. The chapter concludes with Jura acknowledging the arrival of "Ōtsutsuki Boruto".
