Blue Lock Season 2, one of the most highly-anticipated anime sequels this year, is almost here. Today, Crunchyroll has announced that it will be streaming the second season starting on October 5 at 9 a.m. PT. The sports thriller anime will return on the same day in Japan, and to help fans refresh their memories of Season 1, Crunchyroll shared a recap video, which you can watch below:

The second season of the anime, dubbed BLUE LOCK vs. U-20 JAPAN, is confirmed to consist of 14 episodes. Shintaro Inokawa will direct the sequel at Studio Eight Bit, with original manga author Mineyuki Kaneshiro on story composition. Taku Kishimoto is in charge of the character designs; and Jun Murayama composed the music.

In addition to the recap video, Crunchyroll also released an English subtitled version of the second trailer for Blue Lock Season 2:

Blue Lock Season 2 was originally announced after the finale of the first season back in March 2023. The first season originally premiered in October 2022 and ran for a total of 24 episodes until March 2023, and Studio Eight Bit produced the animation. Japan's impressive performance at the FIFA World Cup contributed well to the popularity of the series and helped boost sales of the Blue Lock manga. Season 1 was a huge hit, and as of November 2023, the manga has sold over 30 million copies, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time, so it's not surprising that it didn't take long for Blue Lock to get renewed for Season 2.
