What is Blue Exorcist about?
The dark fantasy anime is based on the Blue Exorcist manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Kato, which started serialization in Jump Square magazine in 2009, and has released 31 tankobon volumes as of June 2024. The previous seasons of Blue Exorcist anime, which were animated by A-1 Pictures, aired in 2011 and 2017, respectively. The second season, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, ignored the anime-only arc from the prequel and continued to adapt the storyline of the manga series.
There's also a side-story titled Blue Exorcist: Kuro’s Trip Away From Home and two-episode OVA from the second season.
