After the success of the first season, many look forward to seeing Andor Season 2. A rebel duo will be formed after Cassian asks Luthen to take him in as part of the Rebellion. Though Luthen only smirks at the time, Stellan Skarsgård, who plays the revolutionary leader, probably knows what will happen next. In fact, he teases fans about what’s to come and when they may see the final season.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, while promoting his new movie Dune 2, where he returns as the villain Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Skarsgård revealed what fans could expect from Andor Season 2. Amid the long wait, with the first season ending in November 2022, the Swedish actor promised it would be worth it.
“We have a good season ahead of us,” he said.
After the first season ended where Rogue One: A Star Wars Story began, the 72-year-old revealed the second season would be “up to that point.” It would even be “very good” as the first installment, calling it a Star Wars for grown-ups.
“It’s a more realistic and complicated society that they’re living in, and the claustrophobia of the fascist regime is palpable,” he described the series.
Of course, besides Andor Season 2’s story, fans also want to know when Cassian’s journey to the Rebellion will be seen on the small screen. Though Disney has yet to reveal when it will be released, and it’s not part of the 2024 release schedule either, Skarsgård claimed there’s still a chance viewers will see it this year or early next year.
“It will probably be out towards the end of the year or early next,” he teased.
What to Expect from Andor Season 2
True to Star Wars fashion, details about Andor Season remain under wraps. However, with how the first season ended and a few Reddit posts, there are theories about what may happen in the final season. When the show returns, it's expected to tell more about Cassian’s story and how he became the Rebellion leader.
It may also feature more about Luthen as the ruthless agent of the Rebel Alliance. With his major connection to Imperial Senator Mon Mothma, who’s secretly funding the Rebels’ works, there are theories the latter will finally meet Cassian. Set photo leaks from Reddit also seem to suggest that the second season will feature the return of planet Naboo, Senator Padmé Amidala's home world that is heavily featured in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Anyhow, fans are advised to take these assumptions with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed yet.
