The month of May is about to begin, and Netflix has just unveiled its new list of K-content that will be released next month. Fans may still be reeling from the end of Queen of Tears, but a couple of new K-dramas can potentially be a new fan-favorite. From the Squid Game-like series The 8 Show to an exclusive look at Korea’s wealthiest elites in Super Rich in Korea, here are the six new K-content coming to Netflix in May 2024.

1 Frankly Speaking
Prepare to laugh and fall in love in the upcoming Korean comedy-drama Frankly Speaking. The new series will follow the story of Song Ki-baek (Go Kyung-pyo), who will get the attention of On Woo-ju (Kang Han-na) for always speaking his mind after developing a disorder that causes him to say what he thinks without control. As a writer for a popular TV variety show, Woo-ju will do everything to have Ki-baek as part of this program. And from there, their story is about to begin.
The new series is set to be released on May 1, 2024, on JTBC and will air every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:50 PM KST. It will then be available to stream on Netflix in select regions. Aside from Kung-pyo and Han-na, it will also star Joo Jong-hyuk as Kim Jung-heon and Lee Jin-hyuk as Song Poong-baek.
2 The Atypical Family
A different love story is about to start in the fantasy drama The Atypical Family. Jang Ki-young and Chun Woo-hee will lead the show as Bok Gwi-joo and Do Da-hee. Gwi-joo and his family possess different supernatural powers, which they end up losing due to modern-day problems. However, with Dae-hae’s help, they have the chance to regain their special abilities when she starts living with them.
The show will also feature Ko Du-shim as Bok Man-heum, Claudia Kim as Bok Dong-hee, Park So-yi as Bok Yi-na, and Oh Man-seok as Eom Soon-goo. The Atypical Family is slated to premiere on May 4, 2024, on JTBC and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 PM KST. It will then stream on Netflix.
3 Super Rich in Korea
Get ready to dive into the luxurious lives of the wealthiest personalities in Korea in the upcoming reality TV series Super Rich in Korea. Hosted by BamBam, Mimi, and Jo Se-ho, they will explore the lavish lifestyles of Seoul’s top one percent, who are the individuals who have made the city their second home due to their love for Korean culture.
The show will feature the millionaire Yoo Hee-ra, Korea’s exclusive luxury brand ambassador; the super influencer Noor Naemi; the noblewoman from PakistanKim Anna; the Singaporean business tycoon David Yong; and Italy’s fashion prodigy Teodoro Marani. Super Rich in Korea is set to release on Netflix on May 7, 2024.
4 Dare to Love Me
Kim Myung-soo and Lee Yoo-young are about to bring Sun Woo’s webtoon, Dare to Love Me, to life in the K-drama adaptation of the same title. Written by Park Yu-mi and directed by Jang Yang-ho, it will tell the story of the noble scholar Shin Yoon-bok (Myung-soo), who believes that benevolence and wisdom make a person, and Kim Hong-do (Yoo-young), a woman who is tired of life after being treated carelessly. These two are about to cross paths that will change their lives.
The series’ cast will include Bae Jong-ok as Jang Camillie, Seonwoo Jae-deok as Shin Soo-geun, and Park Eun-seok as Lee Joon-ho. Dare to Love Me is set to premiere on May 13, 2024, on KBS2 and will air every Monday and Tuesday at 10:10 PM KST. It will then be available to stream on Netflix.
5 The 8 Show
While fans await the release of Squid Game Season 2, Netflix is about to treat them with a new thriller dark comedy series, The 8 Show. Based on Bae Jin-soo’s webtoons Money Game and Pie Game, it will follow the story of eight game members in dire need of money. However, they must last 100 days in an eight-story building with nothing but concrete walls as they vie for the cash grand prize of 44.7 billion won. But there’s a catch: they must pay for their necessities, like food, water, and electricity, which cost 1000 times more than usual.
Also, not everything is fun and games here, as something dangerous is about to happen and death isn’t far from happening. The show will star Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, Park Jeong-min, Lee Yul-eum, Park Hae-joon, Lee Zoo-young, Moon Jeong-hee, and Bae Seong-woo as the eight participants. The 8 Show is slated to be released on Netflix on May 17, 2024.
6 Korean Fried Chicken Rhapsody
Get to know more about Korean fried chicken in the upcoming Korean Fried Chicken Rhapsody. Like other Korean food and travel docuseries on Netflix, such as Jjajangmyeon Rhapsody, learn more about this tasty Korean dish, usually called “chikin” in the country. From its flavorful evolution to its origin, viewers will discover how this became a favorite meal.
Korean fried chicken refers to a variety of fried chicken dishes made in South Korea. It includes the basic huraideu-chicken (fried chicken) and the spicy yangnyeom chicken (seasoned chicken). Korean Fried Chicken Rhapsody’s release date is yet to be announced.
